Melanie Martinez has already revealed the name of her next album, just three months after the release of βHades.β
The former βVoiceβ contestant dropped the news exclusively on TODAY June 26, saying her 2026 album, βHadesβ is Part 1 of a two-album effort.
βThereβs another album that I havenβt said the name yet, but maybe Iβll say it now. Why not?β the βDollhouseβ singer said as the crowd on the plaza went wild.
βThe second album is called βElysium.β Thatβs all Iβll say, but itβs a utopian reference, so itβs the other part. Itβs the counterpart to it,β she added, as the crowd continued howling.
While she didnβt reveal too much information about the album itself, she did talk about how βHades,β which topped the Billboard rock and alternative albums chart in April, came together.
βWith βHades,β it was just kind of reflecting on the current times, and the world feels very dystopian, so I wanted to make a dystopian record,β she said, noting she was inspired by the book βParable of the Sowerβ by Octavia E. Butler.
βI thought it was time to make an album about all of the topics that I felt were really kind of heavy on my heart and Iβm just really happy that resonate with it,β she said.
Martinez has quite the loyal fanbase, which has grown since she appeared on βThe Voiceβ in 2012. Itβs a rise that has surprised her.
βIβm always in awe, and unbelievably grateful,β she said.
βAnd I just feel lucky that I get to do what I love and that I get to put on shows and create safe spaces for people all over the world to come together who are like-minded and creative and passionate,β she added. βAnd itβs inspiring and I just want to do it for the rest of my life, so Iβm just really grateful.β
