Spooky season is officially in session on “Dancing With the Stars.”
The Tuesday, Oct. 27, episode is bringing out killer choreography for Horror Movie Night, where the remaining 10 couples will perform routines inspired by legendary horror films.
After last week’s Dedication Night ended with no elimination, the pairs will have to work twice as hard to avoid being cut from the competition.
After an eerie opening number by the eliminated pros, co-hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough kicked off the show, which also saw the return of Val Chmerkovskiy after his one week suspension.
Joining Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough this week as guest judge is “Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro” judge, and Mark Ballas’ mom, Shirley Ballas.
Read all about what went down during the Oct. 27 episode of “DWTS,” including the dances and scores of each couple.
Shirley Ballas Did Not Hold Back With Brutal and Surprising Scores
Julia Stiles was up first with an Argentine tango, who felt defeated during rehearsals and pressured by partner Ezra Sosa. When they got on the ballroom floor, the results were mixed from judges who felt she held back. But it was Shirley Ballas who stunned the couple and everyone else when she gave the couple a 4 out of 10. Inaba and Derek Hough gave them a 7, while Tonioli dished out an 8.
When Harry Shum Jr. and partner Jenna Johnson performed their contemporary, they blew the judges, including Shirley away, who said she’d never seen anything like that before. But did her comments translate to her score? Yes, the couple got the first perfect score of the season.
The guest judge continued with tough criticisms when it came to Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik, who said it didn’t include enough paso doble content. She also gave them a 4 out of 10.
Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold got the judges really excited about his contemporary routine, calling it his best performance yet.
Val Chmerkovskiy Returns to the Ballroom Floor
After being suspended for since-deleted comments about Inaba’s critiques about a lift in wife Johnson’s routine during the Oct. 13 episode, the pro returned to dance with partner Jenna Dewan.
During rehearsals, Chmerkovskiy apologized for having to miss an episode
“We are back together. I am so sorry for all the chaos,” he told Dewan. “You did not sign up for that and I feel awful.”
The actor forgave him and told him she missed him.
TODAY.com will be updating the scores as the night goes on.
