He’s not just a businessman, or even a business, man — he’s also a family man.
Jay-Z kicked off the first of three headlining shows at New York’s Yankee Stadium on July 10 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of his album “Reasonable Doubt” along with the 25th anniversary of “The Blueprint.” To mark the special occasion, he brought out both wife Beyoncé and eldest daughter Blue Ivy Carter to perform by his side.
Beyoncé took the stage during Hov’s first song of the set, “Can’t Knock The Hustle.” Dressed in a custom Giuseppe di Morabito blazer and capri pants set that was embellished with oversized crystal pinstripes, the star brought the house down as she took over Mary J. Blige’s iconic hook.
“Give it up for my baby,” Beyoncé said, addressing the crowd. “He’s the man.”
Later on in the show, Blue Ivy Carter joined her father to perform his 1997 single “Feelin’ It.” The 14-year-old, wearing a Yankees-themed outfit, played the piano as Jay-Z rapped over the notes.
“Make some noise for the legendary Blue Ivy Carter,” the rapper said during the performance.
Hov’s opening night was filled with big-name guests and other surprise performances. In addition to his famous family members, he also brought out former rival Nas and Alicia Keys.
The shows come after years of few public performances from the legendary Brooklyn rapper. Yankee Stadium immortalized the occasion by gifting him three custom bats, representing the three nights of performances, according to the venue’s social media. The bats were designed by local artists Rafael Caraballo and Jeff Rose King.
Now, we can only imagine what his remaining two shows will bring.
