Taylor Frankie Paul revealed that she got engaged while filming her season of โThe Bachelorette,โ which was pulled from the air just days before premiere.
Paul discussed the drama surrounding her shelved โBacheloretteโ season in the upcoming Season 5 of โThe Secret Lives of Mormon Lives,โ as seen in a clip from the show shared by the Hulu podcast โGet Realโ on Sept. 3.
The clip began with Paul appearing to deny to castmates Jessi Draper, Mayci Neeley and Mikayla Matthews that she was intimate with anyone in one of the fantasy suites on โThe Bachelorette.โ
Draper mentioned โThe Bacheloretteโ suitor whom Paul reportedly chose, Doug Mason, without saying his name. She asked Paul if she ever thought Mason โlooks like Dakota,โ in reference to Paulโs ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, with whom Paul shares a son.
โI didnโt start thinking that until people said it around me,โ Paul said.
โThey have the same initials,โ Draper responded. โTheyโre both from Idaho. Itโs so weird.โ
Paul then left her โMormon Wivesโ castmates stunned when she revealed how her experience filming โThe Bacheloretteโ ended.
โAnd yes, he did get down on one knee and proposed, which I was shocked,โ she said.
Paul said she accepted the proposal.
โAnd then I come home,โ she said.
She said she returned to Utah and began texting Mortensen.
โI donโt know how it led to it, but he came over,โ Paul said.
Paulโs season of โThe Bacheloretteโ was canceled in March after TMZ published a video reportedly from an altercation between Paul and Mortensen in 2023 that led to her arrest.
Paul later pled guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault, court records obtained by NBC News show.
The former couple was also involved in a domestic violence investigation earlier this year stemming from several alleged incidents from 2024 to 2026, police confirmed to NBC News. Reps for Mortensen and Paul declined to comment at the time. In April, the Salt Lake County District Attorneyโs Office said neither Paul nor Mortensen would face new charges.
Filming for Season 5 of โMormon Wivesโ was paused amid the investigation but picked back up around late April.
โSecret Lives of Mormon Wivesโ will return for Season 5 on Sept. 10.
