The heat wave might actually be getting to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani joined a special edition of TODAY on July 4, along with Governors Kathy Hochul of New York and Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey, to reflect on the nationβs 250th birthday.
Amid temperatures nearing 100 degrees, Mamdani, known for always wearing his signature suit, told TODAYβs Laura Jarrett that he might have a bit of a costume change later on in the day.
βSome of us are learning a little bit more about how to dress in the summer. I might be one of those people,β Mamdani said.
He added that heβs βhopeful that the jacket may be coming off soon.β
Mamdani rarely ever takes off his suit and tie. Like, ever. When celebrating the opening of the cityβs summer pools, the mayor leapt into an East Harlem pool, fully dressed in his signature look.
