Be still our millennial hearts.
Rapper Xzibit shared in a social media post on July 16 that Thunder Cat, a pet that heβs had since 2006, is still with him to this very day.
As many a millennial has pointed out, that means that Xzibit has had his buddy with him since his days, hosting popular MTV show βPimp My Ride,β which ran from 2004 to 2007.
People were more than impressed with Thunder Catβs longevity. And with the show centered around turning banged up cars into impressive, often-outrageously upgraded rides, social media users couldnβt help but have a little fun.
βYo dawg we heard you like cats so we put a litter box and a scratching post in your β03 Lincoln Navigator. We call it βNavigatoβ,β one Instagram user commented, mimicking Xzibitβs iconic lines on the show.
Others parodied the showβs theme song.
βπΆ So you wanna be a cool cat? But your kitty ainβt fly? You gotta hit me up because Iβm a pretty cool guy β¦.Itβs ya boy X to Z XZibit!β a social media user wrote.
And many others pointed out how Thunder Cat has lived through quite a bit, with one Instagram user writing, βThunder Catβs been judging people since MySpace.β
βPimp My Rideβ lasted for six seasons. It cemented the rapper as an iconic MTV television host as he helped hopelessly unskilled drivers turn their vehicles into βpimped outβ masterpieces with the experts at auto repair shop West Coast Customs.
The modifications were often just plain wild, as Xzibit would surprise participants with add-ons like a mobile CAT scan machine, a slot machine and a snow cone machine.
Netflix attempted an eight-episode reboot of the show entitled βResurrected Ridesβ in 2024. But it was hosted by βSNLβ alum Chris Reed rather than Xzibit.
The rapper was so touched by the excitement over Thunder Cat from fans, he posted a follow-up photo on July 18 with the little lady.
βYall made the last Thunder Cat post go viral,β Xzibit wrote on Instagram. βSo she got a battery in her back acting like she ready to have her own s—β¦ π€¦π½ββοΈβ
