Almost 20 years after his hit Food Network shows โEmeril Liveโ and โEssence of Emerilโ went off the air, internet users are becoming obsessed with Emeril Lagasse. And heโs just gotten the heads up.
Lagasse, 66, shared a video on July 24 in which he finds out that old clips of his shows have been trending across social media. For weeks, the chef has been a hot topic of discussion as millennials and more relive their favorite, often-outrageous moments.
The chef, known for yelling, โBAM!โ after hitting his dishes with flavor, is clearly reveling in the nostalgia.
โThatโs some good s—,โ Lagasse says in the video.
In the clip, Lagasse watches several of his iconic television moments from the height of his fame in the late 1990s and 2000s. Thereโs of course a snippet from an iconic Halloween episode where he cooks in full-costume, incredible crowd reactions, and a series of iconic โBAMโ-filled moments.
Lagasse was one of the mainstays of the Food Network for about a decade. A master of Creole and Cajun cuisine, Lagasse racked up a following for his big personality and hilarious kitchen antics.
Though his most popular show โEmeril Liveโ came to an end on the Food Network by 2007, Lagasse never really left our television screens. He went on to host several other series including โEmerilโs Florida,โ โEmeril Cooksโ and more. He also makes frequent appearances on competition cooking show โTop Chef.โ
In recent weeks, people have been resurfacing their favorite Lagasse clips. Theyโve included one in which he gives into his well-known obsession with garlic, another in which he has the studio audience in absolute awe after he adds two beers to a dish and yet another hilarious one in which he reveals his hack for fixing an overly-thickened sauce.
Social media users havenโt been shy about the impact that the chef has had on their lives.
โI attribute my love of cooking to watching Emeril as a kid in the 90โs,โ one person wrote.
Another individual shared that Lagasse โinspired me to become a chef.โ
Truthfully, itโs no surprise that heโs been embraced by the internet. Sometimes, you really just have to kick it up a notch.
