James Van Der Beekβs wife posted a sweet message in honor of the coupleβs wedding anniversary, following the actorβs death earlier this year.
Kimberly Van Der Beek took to Instagram Aug. 1 to share a moving message about her husband amid their 16th wedding anniversary. The actor, best known for starring as Dawson Leery in the coming-of-age television drama βDawsonβs Creek,β died in February.
β16 years ago I was the luckiest woman in the world to marry @vanderjames,β Kimberly Van Der Beek wrote in the post. βThe beauty of this marriage continues to unfold everyday with all these incredible children we have.β
The two got married in 2010 and had six children together: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn and Jeremiah.
The actor, whoβs also known for his roles in films βVarsity Bluesβ and βThe Rules of Attraction,β announced in November 2024 that he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He died after a two-and-a-half-year battle with the disease.
In the post, Kimberly Van Der Beek said that her husband βcontinues to be present and guide us.β

The message was met with an outpouring of support from friends and fans, who marveled at the pairβs relationship.

Kimberly Van Der Beek has been open about both her grief and the memories sheβs had of her marriage. On June 21, she shared how she continued to feel her husbandβs presence.
