Liz on July 1 announced her departure from the reality TV show on Instagram, writing that she plans to βfocus on my family, my work and my passions.β
βAs filming for Season 2 begins, I have made the decision to take a step back,β she said in her statement.
She added that sheβs βfull of gratitudeβ for her time as a main cast member and will be watching the next season.
TODAY.com has reached out to Bravo for comment but did not immediately hear back. The networkβs official Instagram commented a heart emoji on Lizβs post.
βReal Housewives of Rhode Islandβ premiered in April and aired a two-part reunion on June 21 and June 28. The Bravo show was renewed for a second season in May.
Liz, 56, is described in the show as Rhode Islandβs βCannabis Queen.β She owns and operates the stateβs largest cannabis dispensary. Liz is married to Gerry McGraw and stepmother to his three children. Sheβs longtime friends with βReal Housewives of New Jerseyβ star Dolores Catania, who made several appearances throughout βRhode Islandβsβ debut season.
Liz was represented as one of the leaders of the βReal Housewives of Rhode Islandβ group throughout Season 1, with longtime friendships with Kelsey Swanson, Alicia Carmody and Jo-Ellen Tiberi. Over Season 1βs 12 episodes, tension escalated between Liz and Jo-Ellen before exploding at a brunch outing. During the reunion, Liz questioned Jo-Ellenβs description of their relationship as βbest friends.β
The cast for Season 2 of βRHORIβ is unclear. Season 1 featured Liz, Kelsey, Alicia, Jo-Ellen as well as Rosie DiMare, Rulla Nehme Pontarelli and βBachelorβ franchise alum Ashley Iaconetti.
