It was a night to remember for Karol G and one young fan who made the whole stadium smile at the singerโs latest show.
During her July 29 โViajando Por El Mundo TropiTourโ concert at Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Karol took a moment to say hi to a little girl in the crowd. In video shared by DJ Mechon on Instagram, Karol stopped the music, gave the girl a hug and asked her name.
โChloe,โ she replied, before Karol asked what her favorite song was. โDai Dai,โ the girl replied, referring to Shakiraโs song for the World Cup.
โWhat?โ Karol replied, before realizing she was not talking about one of her songs. โโDai Dai,โ letโs sing it,โ she said in Spanish. โShe knows it.โ
โShe just said that her favorite song is โDai Daiโ by Shakira,โ Karol continued as the audience laughed. โYou want to sing it? You know it?โ
The girl then started to sing Shakiraโs song, with everyone joining in and Karol cheering her on.
โThis was one of the most special moments of the night because it showed both the innocence of children and Karol Gโs kindness,โ DJ Mechon, who attended the concert and recorded the video, tells TODAY.com. โWhen she asked the little girl what her favorite song was, she answered โDai Dai,โ which is actually a Shakira song. Rather than making the child feel embarrassed, Karol G embraced the moment, and as the little girl sang, the entire stadium joined in.โ
Adding, โIt turned into one of the most genuine and heartwarming moments of the concert,โ he continued, adding that โbeing there, for what was probably the biggest Latin concert Toronto has ever seen, was unforgettable. The energy, emotion, and connection between Karol G and her fans made it a truly special night.โ
Julie Haynes, another fan who attended the same concert and shared video of the moment online, also tells TODAY.com that the interaction was among her favorites of the night.
โOut of the whole concert, that was the moment that stuck with me the most. It was so innocent and genuine,โ Haynes says. โI love how kids are just unapologetically themselves, and seeing her confidently tell Karol G that her favorite song was โDai Daiโ by Shakira was such a sweet moment Iโll never forget.โ
And it was a memorable night for Karol as she became the first female solo artist to headline a show at Rogers Stadium.
The โLatina Forevaโ singer kicked off her โViajando Por El Mundo TropiTourโ on July 27 in Chicago, with fans calling the show a celebration of culture, fawning over her sensational outfits and band on stage.
Just in the past days while on tour, Karol announced her new single, โMatadora,โ as well as a new album โNo Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto.โ
During her Toronto concert, she revealed that it will be released on Friday, Aug. 7. The cover art was also unveiled on the screens. She will continue touring across North America, Latin America and Europe, marking her largest live production yet.
