Live from Central Perk, Phoebe Buffay has released her latest hit single: โSheinelle-y Cat.โ
Jenna Bush Hager updated the famously out-of-tune song โSmelly Catโ from the daffy โFriendsโ character in honor of TODAY co-host Sheinelle Jones as part of the showโs Halloween extravaganza on Oct. 30.
โGood morning Central Perk, this goes out to all my coffee and kitty lovers out there,โ Jenna began.
She then launched into some gloriously off-key singing inspired by the character played by Lisa Kudrow. Phoebe first played the song on a 1995 episode of โFriends.โ
โSheinelle-y cat, Sheinelle-y cat, I love Halloween with you,โ Jenna sang. โSheinelle-y cat, Sheinelle-y cat, you give it your all.โ
In her next verse, Jenna referenced Sheinelleโs famous Halloween choreography over the years. Sheinelle took her game to the next level this year as a Rockette and has previously embodied Janet Jackson and Beyoncรฉ.
โSheinelle-y cat, Sheinelle-y cat, you give it your all,โ Jenna sang. โThey donโt let me ever dance, they donโt want to take the chance. Sheinelle-y cat, Sheinelle-y cat, kick high but do not fall.โ
Far from falling, Sheinelle nailed her Rockettes performance during the costume reveal, with perfect eye-level kicks in sync with the other dancers.
Jennaโs personalized rendition of Phoebeโs song came after Jenna covered the original โSmelly Catโ earlier on TODAY during the Halloween reveal. She and Savannah Guthrie dressed up as Phoebe and Jennifer Anistonโs Rachel Green during a trip through famous NBC moments in honor of the networkโs 100th anniversary. Jennaโs own cat Maisie even made a special cameo, dressed in a TODAY onesie.
โJenna you were so good and sounded just like her,โ one fan wrote on Instagram.
โSafe to say neither Jenna nor Phoebe can sing. Lol,โ another commented.
After Phoebe โ sorry, Jenna โ serenaded Sheinelle, she then gave her co-host a special introduction.
โFrom Halloween to Christmas, please welcome, the pocket Rockette, Sheinelle Jones!โ Jenna said.
Sheinelle strutted into Studio 1A and reprised her dance with a kick line featuring four members of the legendary Rockettes, all decked out in green, red and white for a small taste of the Christmas spirit to come.
