Taylor Swift has a long history with the MTV VMAs and just broke yet another record.
Swift received her 33rd moon person at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, becoming the most-awarded artist in VMAs history. She was previously tied with Beyoncรฉ with 30 awards.
Swift won three VMAs at the 2026 ceremony on Sept. 27, including the inaugural Artist Director Honors, which honors artistsโ work behind the camera to make music videos. In her acceptance speech, Swift said sheโs made 60 music videos and wrote and directed 18.
Swift also won the VMA for best direction for โOpaliteโ and the nightโs marquee award, video of the year, for โThe Fate of Ophelia.โ Both tracks are from her 12th studio album โThe Life of a Showgirl,โ which was just rereleased as a special โThe Encoreโ edition with four new tracks.
Swift became the most awarded solo artist in VMAs history after the 2024 ceremony, at which she won seven total trophies. That brought her career total to 30, tying her with Beyoncรฉ at the time.
Beyoncรฉ has won 26 VMAs as a solo artist, two with Destinyโs Child and two with her husband, Jay-Z, as The Carters, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Over the years, Swift has taken home moon people for โYou Belong With Me,โ โBlank Space,โ โYou Need to Calm Down,โ โAnti-Heroโ and more songs from her different eras.
