The 78th Emmy Awards will see some of the biggest Hollywood stars going head to head in the major categories.
The 2026 Emmy Awards, televisionβs biggest night, will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be broadcast live from Peacock Theater and feature nominees like Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo and more.
Nominations were first revealed on July 8, with TODAY exclusively sharing the nominees for outstanding variety series and outstanding reality competition program.
After all the categories were announced, βThe Pittβ led with a staggering 25 nominations. βHacksβ closely followed with 24 nods for its fifth and final season, which set a record in the comedy category. Rounding out the top three was new series βWidowβs Bayβ with 19 nominations.
There were also 28 actors who received their first-ever Emmy nominations.
Some of them have already added βEmmy winnerβ to their resume, as last week awards were handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys. Soon more stars will be presented with the coveted golden statue.

When Are the 2026 Emmys?
The 2026 Emmys are set to air live on Monday, Sept. 14, beginning at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET.
The ceremony will be held at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
How to Watch and Stream the 2026 Emmys
The show will be broadcast from coast-to-coast on NBC and will stream live and on demand on Peacock, as well.
Nights one and two from the Creative Arts Emmys will air on FXX on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. It will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
Who Is Hosting the 2026 Emmys?
The Television Academy announced in July that Mariska Hargitay will emcee the event.
Hargitay also scored two nominations for her film βMy Mom Jayne,β and won for outstanding documentary and outstanding directing for a documentary/nonfiction program, making her a three-time Emmy winner.
This will be the first time a woman is leading the ceremony since Jane Lynch hosted in 2011.
Speaking about the honor during an appearance on TODAY in August, Hargitay shared that it took her a minute to process that she was being asked to host the major award show.
βI thought about it over the weekend and then I started going, βWhy not?ββ she recalled.
βWhich is where I kind of am in my life,β the βLaw & Order: SVUβ star continued. βI was so incredibly honored and, again, knowing that itβs the first woman in 15 years was absolutely thrilling. And I am somebody to take on new challenges.β
