Itโs been four year since Aaron Carter died, and his fiancรฉe is honoring her late love, while also sharing an update on their son, Princeton Lyrik Carter.
In an Instagram post shared Nov. 5, Melanie Martin first reflected on the day that forever changed her life.
โSome days it feels like yesterday, and other days it feels like a lifetime ago. I still wish I could hear your voice, tell you about our day, or have just one more conversation with you,โ she wrote, adding that she missed the man she know โbehind closed doors.โ
โYou were so much more than the headlines or the struggles people saw. I wish the world had shown you more kindness and compassion,โ she added.
Amid her grief, she shared some insight on now-4-year-old Princeton.
โThe hardest part is watching Prince grow up without you,โ Martin wrote. โHeโs learning so much and becoming his own little person.โ
She added that she wishes the โI Want Candyโ singer โcould see every milestone. I promise he will always know how much his daddy was loved.โ
She continued to share how Carterโs death taught her the importance of mental health and the need to get proper care.
โYou never know what someone is silently fighting,โ she wrote, later adding, โGrief doesnโt have an expiration date. I can smile, make memories, and keep going for our son while still missing you every day. Both things can be true.โ
She concluded by reminding people to check on their loved ones and be gentle with those who are struggling.
โA little compassion can mean more than you realize. I wish our story had a different ending,โ she wrote. โI wish you had more time. Forever in my heart, Aaron.โ
Martin has shared photos and videos of Prince over the years. Most recently she posted their Harley Quinn and Joker Halloween costumes. The young boy was seen sporting his late dadโs signature haircut from when he was a rising star.
Carterโs twin sister Angel Carter Conrad also shared a tribute on her Instagram story, expressing how much she misses him.
โI love that you still find ways to visit me in my dreams, especially during lifeโs biggest moments,โ she wrote, adding how she will also continue to honor his memory.
Carter was found dead in his Lancaster, California, home on Nov. 5, 2022, at the age of 34. He had struggled with addiction and mental health issues over his lifetime.
The teen idol died by accidental drowning in his bathtub after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax, according to a Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner report.
