KATSEYE Drops Out of Music Festival After Megan Skiendiel Is Injured

KATSEYE has dropped out of Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival in California after one of its members sprained an ankle in rehearsal this week.

The global girl group announced on its social medial channels Aug. 27 that it had to cancel its scheduled appearance at the festival on Aug. 29 in Irvine due to an injury to Megan Skiendiel.

“We’re so incredibly sorry to share that we are unable to perform at Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday,” the message reads. “Megan sprained her ankle yesterday during tour rehearsal and after being evaluated by doctors, she has been advised to stay off it and allow it to properly heal so we can be ready for our upcoming tour.”

The group said it broke their hearts “to disappoint anyone who made plans to be there.”

KATSEYE was expected to perform at 2:15 p.m. local time at the festival. An updated schedule shows Santigold performing in that time slot.

“We were especially excited for Daisy Chain Fields because it’s not just about music, but the greater mission of joy and community,” the group said in its statement. “We’re sending all our love to Olivia and to all of the incredible artists, non-profit organizations and volunteers who have given their time to make this day so special. It’s going to be such an amazing day, and we can’t wait to see everyone out on tour.”

Four members of the Grammy-nominated group — Daniela Avanzini, Yoonchae Jeung, Lara Raj and Skiendiel — performed live on the TODAY Plaza Aug. 14 as part of the Citi Concert Series. Two other members of the group, Sophia Laforteza and Manon Bannerman, announced hiatuses from the band this year.

“As KATSEYE, it’s so important to us to always prioritize our well-being. We stand by Sophia and Manon through and through. We ride for them,” Raj said on TODAY.

Laforteza announced in early August that she was stepping away from the band to prioritize her “mental health and wellness.” Bannerman had previously announced her own hiatus in February.

The group’s sold-out world tour is scheduled to kick off on Sept. 1 in Dublin, Ireland, and will go across Europe before the North American leg kicks off on Oct. 13 in Miami. KATSEYE did not specify if Skiendiel’s injury would affect the upcoming tour dates.
