‘SNL’s’ Jorma Taccone is recovering from a 20-foot fall
Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone shattered his pelvis and detached his sacrum after a recent fall from a 20-foot ladder at his farmhouse in Connecticut.
The βSaturday Night Liveβ alum recounted the incident from his hospital bed during Tuesdayβs episode of the βLonely Island & Seth Meyersβ podcast.
βThereβs a barn, and the back half of the barn has a big white wall. And I was like, βOh, this is great. We can do a big mural,ββ the comedian said to his co-hosts Meyers, Akiva Schaffer and Andy Samberg. βThe mural would be very, very large at the top. The apex of this barn is like 25 feet.β
Taccone said that he borrowed ladders, including one that his neighbor described as βbad.β As in, βyou shouldnβt use this ladder. Like, it doesnβt have a footing thing. And I was like, βNo, itβs really good.ββ
Taccone was using the ladder to hang lights around the barn to highlight the mural when he fell 20 feet onto his butt.
βI literally have enough time as Iβm falling to be like, βIβm going to die,ββ he said.
The accident was on Aug. 31, his daughterβs fifth birthday, according to Us Weekly. βIt wasnβt the coolest way to start the day,β Taccone said.
Two days post-surgery, Taccone said the doctors expect him to walk again within three to six months.
βItβs been a really scary week, and weβre glad that you didnβt hit your head and that youβre not dead,β Schaffer said.
There was only one question left: How long do the hosts have before they can poke fun at the accident?
βI mean, donβt you think it should be instantaneous?β Taccone quipped.
Tacconeβs film βOver Your Dead Body,β which he directed, was recently acquired by IFC in May, according to Deadline. The theatrical release date is yet to be determined.
