Britney Spears arrested on suspicion of DUI in Ventura County
Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night in Ventura on suspicion of DUI, according to online records from the Ventura County Sheriffβs Office, with the singerβs representative calling the incident βinexcusable.β
Spears, 44, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 Wednesday night and booked around 3 a.m. Thursday. Her car was impounded, and she was released just after 6 a.m.
The pop starβs occupation was listed as βcelebrity.β
βThis was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,β a representative for Spears told The Times in a statement on Thursday. βBritney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in a long overdue change that needs to occur in Britneyβs life. Hopefully she can get the support she needs during this difficult time.
βHer boys are going to be spending time with her,β the statement continued. βHer loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.β
Spears has a May 4 hearing date set in Ventura County Superior Court in Ventura.
The pop singer was previously arrested in 2007 in Los Angeles County, shortly after her divorce from Kevin Federline was finalized. She was charged with misdemeanors for an alleged hit-and-run and driving without a license.
The prosecution was dropped in October 2008 after a jury split 10-2 in favor of acquittal.
