Who Went Home on ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ on October 8?

Warning: Spoilers from “The Traitors: New Blood” Episode 5 below.

Murder and mayhem are keeping the all-civilian cast of “The Traitors: New Blood” on their toes.

The bloodbath continued Oct. 8 in Episode 5, titled “Wake of the Living Dead” when viewers learned Katie’s fate after the cliffhanger moment from the show’s last episode when Jay revealed at the Round Table he suspected Katie was a Traitor.

Viewers at home, of course, knew Jay was right about Katie, who was invited to be an accomplice by the season’s original Traitor duo Joe and Tomica.

Tensions at the Round Table

As Jay shared more about his suspicions, Katie derailed him by revealing to the group Jay previously told her Kriste was a Traitor.

Already on thin ice with the group because of his chaotic behavior, Jay told Kriste, “I don’t know 100% if you’re a Traitor,” explaining he was suspicious of her because she avoided his eye contact.

Exasperated, Kriste told Jay in her Mississippi drawl she avoided looking at him because she’d become, like others in the castle, tired of his incessant chatter.

“Listening to your theories and your information is about as informative and as interesting as picking gnat crap out of pepper,” Kriste said.

As Jay tried to explain himself, Katie, eager to change the subject, cut him off, saying, “Let’s move on.”

Next, Abby L. said a conversation she’d had with Sherry provided her with all the “evidence” she needed that Sherry was a Traitor. Abby L. recalled Sherry telling her, “There’s no way all three of the Traitors are women.”

“How do you know that for sure there are three Traitors?” Abby L. recalled thinking, which made her believe Sherry was in on the villainy.

Sherry, showing off a previously unseen fiery side, defended herself by saying others in the group had also thrown out guesses about the number of Traitors among them.

Sherry then revealed she suspected Jay.

“Your behavior during this whole game has been more treacherous than any Traitor,” Sherry told Jay. “You seem to delight in creating a crockpot of confusion that we all simmer in.”

Everyone in the castle judged Jay for his refusal to sacrifice himself for his team during missions, Sherry said, adding, “You are a detriment to all of us playing this game.”

The Banishment

When the time came for banishment, Sherry received the most votes, including one from Jay, despite the fact that he’d just voiced his suspicions about Katie and Kriste.

Before exiting, Sherry shocked the others by revealing she was a Faithful, making her the third Faithful in a row the group unwittingly sent home.

“Do better,” Sherry icily told the remaining players.

Host Alan Cumming then mocked the group for their banishment selections. “Faithfuls, once again you have voted out one of your own,” he told them.

A Traitor Gets Tearful

After the banishment, a tearful Katie privately told Joe their Traitorous lies and manipulations were taking a toll on her. “I feel horrible. I kind of want to go cry. I don’t really want to do it anymore,” Katie said.

“It’s hard,” Joe replied, reminding her it was all just a game.

“They’re just never going to forgive us,” Katie said.

In a confessional, a sobbing Katie said she was “struggling” being a villain.

“I don’t want to see any of these people go. I forget whose side I’m on,” Katie said. “I genuinely get so immersed in my conversations, I forget that I’m the problem.”

A Murder in Plain Sight

Later, all three Traitors received notes informing them their next task was to commit a murder in plain sight before the players attended a staged funeral later that night.

The Traitors were instructed to locate a bunch of “cursed apples” in the castle’s kitchen and to then toss an apple to one of the nine remaining players. Whoever caught the tossed apple would later be revealed as the murder victim.

Joe took an apple to a room where Jay, Morgan, Mark, Clyde and Tomica sat on a sofa. He tossed the apple to Morgan, but she failed to catch it.

Victor later became suspicious after Tomica offered him an apple and seeing Joe walking around the castle with a second apple in his hand.

“No shade. I haven’t seen Joe eat a lot of fruit the last couple days,” Victor said in a confessional.

A Wake for the Living Dead

The players, all dressed in black, joined Alan at the outdoor funeral, which took place in a graveyard filled with tombstones with the players’ names.

“Welcome to the Wake of the Living Dead,” Alan announced.

Alan then told seven players — Katie, Abbey B., Jay, Shane, Michael, Ben and Wyatt — they were safe for the night.

The nine remaining players — Tomica, Kriste, Abby L., Morgan, Victor, Clyde, Mark, Joe and Niyyah were placed in coffins and buried in the ground.

Ever so slowly, Alan began revealing which of the buried “poor souls” had escaped death, while also confirming that a murder in plain sight had taken place that night.

One by one, Tomica, Kriste, Abby L., Morgan and Victor were pulled from their coffins, leaving Clyde, Mark, Joe and Niyyah in the ground.

Who among the remaining four were safe and who was going home?

“I can reveal that the Traitors have murdered…” Alan said as the episode faded to black.
