TODAY’s Craig Melvin still may not be “Real Housewives” ready.
A hallmark of the 20-year franchise are the taglines cast members say in each show’s intro. Lisa Vanderpump of “Beverly Hills” famously said, “Life isn’t all diamonds and rosé, but it should be,” while “Atlanta’s” Phaedra Parks opted for, “Only God can judge me, and he seems quite impressed.”
In 2022, the TODAY hosts put their own spin on the taglines with “The Real Anchors of TODAY,” which Craig Melvin and Bravo executive producer Andy Cohen revisited in Studio 1A on Aug. 5.
“As a journalist, I usually keep one ear to the ground, because I’m getting the other one pierced,” Craig said at the time, which Cohen gave a “so-so” rating.
Now, Craig’s craving redemption.
“It was mediocre,” he said. “I wanted to try again.”
As the franchise’s unmistakable soundtrack played in the studio, Craig gave it another shot.
“I may spill the tea, but I still keep the glass half full,” he said, a pun on the video podcast he launched in March 2026.
“That’s good … yes,” Cohen responded.
But Craig wasn’t done.
“Growing up in the South, I was raised to mind my manners, not my business,” he said.
Cohen was less impressed.
“Alright, I’m lost,” Cohen responded with a head shake.
“You’re always honest,” Craig said, before giving it one more go.
“I’m in the business of news, but I’m never above a little drama,” he said.
“That’s a good starting place, we’ll work on that,” Cohen determined.
“I couldn’t be a real housewife,” Craig said with a laugh.
Of the three, Cohen said his favorite was Craig’s first attempt.
“It’s where you’re at on the TODAY show right now,” Cohen said.
Cohen is fittingly looking back at his own television career, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the “Real Housewives” franchise, which he’s led since it launched in 2006 with “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” To mark the milestone, Bravo will release “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th,” which premieres Aug. 9.
But Cohen has no intention of slowing down.
“I want to keep this going as long as I can,” Cohen said. “I got kids to feed.”
